What research has been conducted in the field of stem cells and what are the summarised results?

Friday, July 24th, 2009 | Research

I want to know more about this field but need a basic knowledge. I also want to know about HOW these results were achieved. Has there been any revolutionary scientific breakthroughs either in stem cell research. And could anyone please inform me about how far we off maybe curing cancer or regrowing USABLE nerve cells and any key info on either of these subjects.

Thanks.

Stem cells include a complete set of DNA of the donor and can be rejected (as any donated tissue) by another recipient and there are concerns that they can cause malignant cancers. Much remains to be learned about them and they must be used in patients only with great caution.
